Taylor Ortiz

Co-Founder & CEO

With over eight years of experience in commodity trading, Taylor specializes in developing custom risk management strategies for commercial grain cooperatives, with a strong focus on price improvement and client education.

Taylor began her career in institutional equity sales trading at Jones Trading and Macquarie Bank, where she covered hedge funds across global markets—including Asia, Europe, and the United States. Her early exposure to international markets laid the foundation for her strategic approach to risk and cross-asset execution.

While earning her degree at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, Taylor interned on commodity trading desks, gaining early experience in options theory and OTC structuring.

In addition to her role at TPAC, Taylor leads business development at Pack Creek Capital, supporting commercial agriculture clients and managing the firm’s Investor Series managed account program.

Michael Ortiz

Founder & Head Trader

Michael Ortiz is a pioneer in agricultural OTC trading with a career that began in the soybean pit at the Chicago Board of Trade in the 1980s. After trading interest rates and FX in the 1990s, he helped bring OTC financial strategies to agriculture—founding Refco’s commodity OTC unit, expanding Cargill’s OTC business, leading the Australian Wheat Board’s program, and launching a managed account with Kottke & Associates that returned 12.88% during the 2008 crash. He later built Hanley Group Capital’s OTC business, which was acquired by INTL FCStone, where he became President of INTL FCStone Markets. In 2014, he joined ED&F Man to build their OTC platform before founding Pack Creek Capital in 2017. From 2010 to 2017, Ortiz generated over $350 million in trading profits with no losing months. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Colorado. From 2017 to today, Michael is the head trader for Pack Creek Capital, capturing opportunities in agricultural options for commercial and investors. Michael runs the TPAC Capital trading desk, running a profitable book and advising clients on new innovative strategies.

Richard Dunlap

President

Dick Dunlap began his career in the capital markets in 1989 as an option market maker in the corn options pit with Kottke and Associates. In the early 1990s, as the financial futures pits began to grow at the Chicago Board of Trade, Dunlap started a brokerage group in the five-year treasury note futures. He and his team of fifteen clerks executed tens of millions of futures and options contracts for the world’s largest banks and hedge funds. In the fall of 2010, Dunlap left the trading pits to work on capital introduction for an emerging manager in the CTA hedge fund space, Metolius Capital. In 2015, he partnered with a large family office in the CTA hedge fund space to launch Trowbridge Trading, an Introducing Broker. Trowbridge Trading now oversees over a billion dollars in notionally traded funds across all asset classes.

Alberto Alvarez

Managing Director, LATAM

Alberto Alvarez, fluent in English, Spanish, and French, holds a degree in Economics from Duke University and the University of Florida. With over 40 years in the commodities industry, he has deep expertise across futures, OTC hedging, origination, basis trading, and cross-border grain logistics between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. A former Senior VP and Latin America Branch Manager for Shearson Lehman American Express, Alberto pioneered financial services for Latin clients, including the successful launch of the LAROC Gold Card program. He played a key role in Grupo Bimbo’s wheat hedging strategy post-NAFTA, overseeing procurement, futures execution, and logistics for up to 1 million MT annually. In Argentina, he introduced customized OTC products for Matba and helped merge it with Rofex into a unified exchange. Today, he is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Fintec Group and IIB, advising agricultural and natural resource clients on advanced hedge strategies.
